Head of Design & Technology – Creative Secondary School in Gloucester

Our client is seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Design & Technology to lead a creative and well-established DT department in a forward-thinking secondary school in Gloucester. This is a full-time permanent position starting in April ideal for a DT specialist ready to take on a leadership role within a school that genuinely values creativity innovation and practical learning.

Design & Technology is a strong and visible subject within the school with good uptake supportive leadership and a clear commitment to high-quality outcomes.

The Role

• Providing strategic and day-to-day leadership of the Design & Technology department

• Teaching DT across KS3 and KS4 with KS5 depending on experience and specialism

• Leading curriculum development assessment and quality assurance

• Managing and supporting DT staff and technicians

• Promoting high standards of health & safety across workshops and classrooms

• Driving creativity innovation and consistently strong pupil outcomes

• Contributing to wider school leadership and development initiatives

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• A degree in Design & Technology or a related subject

• Proven experience teaching DT at KS3 and KS4

• Previous leadership or responsibility within a DT department

• Strong knowledge of workshop practice CAD/CAM and health & safety

• The ability to lead motivate and support colleagues effectively

• A professional organised and forward-thinking leadership style
