The Opportunity

Wayman Education is looking for a reliable hardworking and practical School Caretaker to join a friendly primary school in Hounslow. This is an essential role for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to ensure that children have a clean safe and well-maintained environment in which to learn.

The Role

As the Caretaker you will be the face of the school site. You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance security and cleanliness of the premises. This is a hands-on role that requires a mix of technical skill and a proactive can-do attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Security: Opening the school in the morning and ensuring the site is fully secured at the end of the day including setting alarms and checking all windows and doors.

• General Maintenance: Carrying out minor repairs such as fixing leaks painting/decorating changing lightbulbs and basic carpentry or plumbing tasks.

• Health & Safety: Conducting regular safety checks including fire alarm testing water temperature monitoring (Legionella) and ensuring all walkways are clear of hazards.

• Cleaning & Grounds: Supervising the cleaning team and ensuring the school grounds are tidy and free of litter or debris.

• Porterage: Moving furniture for assemblies and events and taking delivery of school supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a caretaking maintenance or DIY-focused role is highly desirable.

• Practical skills in basic plumbing electrical and carpentry tasks.

• A good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).

• Physical fitness as the role involves lifting carrying and being on your feet for most of the day.

• A friendly and professional manner when dealing with staff pupils and parents.

• An enhanced DBS check (or a willingness to undergo one immediately).
