Position Summary
The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center ( UNMC ) invites applications for a full-time tenure-leading faculty position in the division of Clinical Pathology with a focus on Chemical Pathology and Transfusion Medicine. Chemical pathology opportunities include laboratory directorship or associate directorship in multiple subspecialities including clinical lab and public health operations with responsibility for assay validation clinical consultations serum protein electrophoresis/immunofixation mass spectrometry therapeutic drug monitoring immunoassays and analysis of seized illegal drugs. The successful candidate should also be able to cover a busy transfusion medicine service. Educational opportunities include teaching within the medical school and within an ACGME -accredited AP/CP residency program. Opportunities for developing research projects are available. Candidates interested in developing a funded research program are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree and they should be certified or eligible for certification in AP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology. Fellowship training in chemical pathology and/or transfusion medicine/blood banking is required.
