Job Summary

Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a Supply Technician Position Description Number Dand is part of the USPFO Supply and Services Division of the Vermont Army National Guard.

The purpose of this position is to provide storage and distribution cataloging or supply identification systems property utilization or other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems.


Duties

Performs routine and nonroutine material coordination duties for special programs maintenance or production shops.

Responsible for local management of decentralized and decontrolled items which requires technical intervention to assure effective supply support and economy. Items are less stable or standardized and do not lend themselves to routine control through the use of the computer and variable supply level formulas. Plans requirements both quantitative and monetary to satisfy customer needs. Authorizes procurement and is responsible for funds management.

Responsible for limited aspects of storage management. May develop and install local procedures and techniques to achieve and maintain smooth effective and coordination storage operations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing states National Guard.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Incumbent is the primary focal point for Property Accountability for the United States Property and Fiscal Officer.
  • Incumbent is the focal point for unit mobilization operations seeking needed assets and establishing proper authorization documents for mobilization.
  • Incumbent is required to meet all the military training and requirements for compatible military assignment to be awarded this position.
  • During mobilization or demobilization operations may travel throughout the state or country assisting assigned units to identify and validate assets to being prepared or returned.

Qualifications

OPEN AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: AREA 1 2 3
Area I: All current On-board Permanent and Indefinite Dual Status 32 and Title 5 (Competitive and Excepted) Technicians (Tenure: 1-Career 2-Conditional 3-Indefinite) - Only those Vermont National Guard members who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired within that National Guard component applying for a position within the component which they are currently employed.
Area II: All Members of the Vermont Army National Guard.
Area III: Currently assigned service members in other branches of the military outside of the VTNG to include those assigned to Active Duty Reserve or other states National Guard.

Military Grades: Enlisted: PV1/E1-SFC/E7

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS GS-07: Experience education or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions requiring ability to decide course of action to take considering the circumstances or conditions encountered. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-07: Must have a minimum of 12 months:
-Experience education or training which demonstrates a thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations policies procedures and instructions applicable to the specific assignment.
-Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstructing records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies equipment or parts.
-Experience performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
-This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

- The duties of your position may require the operation of motor vehicles candidates must have a valid state drivers license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
- This position requires a secret security clearance the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

Additional information

Temporary employees serve under appointments limited to 1 year or less and are subject to termination at any time without use of adverse action or reduction-in-force procedures. Appointments may be extended for an additional 1 year for a total of 24 months of total service in accordance with 5 CFR 316.401(c)(1) and (2). A temporary appointment does not confer eligibility to be promoted or reassigned to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to a permanent appointment.
