Job Summary

Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Business Service Group (BSG) Division of System Support Operations and Security Services (DSSOS)

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC) GSyou will serve as Division Director leading a multi-team within CMMI to manage IT operations security and privacy services.


Duties

  • Perform leadership and personnel responsibilities for a multi-disciplinary specialist team to fulfill component goals.
  • Manage operations and maintenance for IT systems and security for CMS divisions.
  • Direct plans to ensure the security and privacy for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Manage efforts to implement IT systems changes to claims processing in various payment systems.
  • Develop long range IT improvement strategies to improve CMS programs.

In order to qualify for the GS-15 you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government obtained in either the private or public sector to include: (1) Guiding policy teams in the implementation of payment policy changes in healthcare claims processing systems; (2) Directing multi-disciplinary teams in managing IT system operations and service inquiries; (3) Directing teams in managing an IT security and privacy program.

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces including the general public individuals who work in the agency other agencies or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs provide information or assistance resolve their problems or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example technical sensitive controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible current or former Federal employees and current or former Federal employees applying under the VEOA eligibility who hold or have held a permanent General Schedule position in the previous year must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
