The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Avionics Technician to operate inspect test troubleshoot repair align modify rebuild overhaul reassemble calibrate and certify the components of the avionic multisystems on assigned aircraft to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.
- Tests maintains calibrates and repairs advanced avionics systems using a multi-system test configuration or specialized avionics test stations.
- DIGITAL ANALOG VIDEO (DAV)/TEST MEASUREMENT AND DIAGNOSTICEQUIPMENT/SYSTEM PECULAR MAINTENANCE: Tests maintains calibrates and repairs advanced multi-system test stations and specialized avionics test stations.
- Effectively communicates information to the proper channels. IAW applicable directives prepares all necessary forms and records associated with scheduling and repair of units and prepares deficiency reports on defective systems components or inaccurate technical data. Maintains historical data of repaired components and test stations.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures complies with security regulations directives and policies and maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Uses and maintains tools and test equipment required to accomplish duties: Ensures tools are properly marked calibrated (if necessary) and are secured when area is unattended. Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program.
In order to qualify you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is ability to the work of a Electronic Integrated System Mechanic without more than normal supervision.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Requires a high degree of manual dexterity eye to hand coordination prolonged standing walking and normal color vision.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside in a shop environment and outside on the aircraft subject to inclement weather. Mechanics are subject to injuries such as cuts and bruises and may be subject to danger from exposure to hazardous materials high pressure air high noise level electrical shock RF radiation and bums from soldering irons.
