Job Title: Network Security Engineer
Location: San Jose CA 95131 (Onsite)
Primary Skill - Routing Switching DNS DHCP Network Firewall AAA Load balancing
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in computer science IT or a related field; 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking specifically in high-availability environments.
- Networking & Routing: Mastery of TCP/IP DNS DHCP VLANs and subnetting. Strong proficiency in advanced routing protocols including OSPF and BGP.
- Wireless & Identity Management: Expert-level knowledge of enterprise WLAN management including 802.1X authentication NAC and AAA protocols (RADIUS/TACACS) for secure access control.
- Security & Traffic Control: Experience configuring Firewalls IDS/IPS and VPNs. Proficient in managing Network Load Balancers (L4 L7) to ensure application scalability and health.
- Physical Layer Expertise: Proven ability to manage physical infrastructure including rack-and-stack structured cabling (Cat6/Fiber) and hardware lifecycle management.
- Availability: Must be able to work 5 days per week on-site and participate in a dedicated on-call rotation for urgent network emergencies.
- Certifications: CCNA/CCNP (Enterprise or Security) is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Physical & Logic Infrastructure: Installing cabling and configuring routers switches and APs. Managing the physical layout of network closets and server rooms to ensure clean room standards.
- Wireless & Access Security: Administering NAC solutions and AAA (RADIUS/TACACS) to secure the wireless and wired perimeter. Troubleshooting connectivity issues related to authentication and certificates.
- Core Services & Traffic Management: Managing IPAM (DHCP/DNS) and optimizing traffic flow via Load Balancers (VIPs pools and health monitoring) to maintain high application uptime.
- Security & Maintenance: Enforcing security policies patching network OS updating firmware and conducting regular security audits and log analysis.
- Operational Continuity: Providing essential on-site support 5 days a week and serving as the Tier 3 escalation point during on-call shifts to resolve critical outages.
- Troubleshooting & RMA: Utilizing packet captures and monitoring tools to analyze performance resolve complex outages and manage the RMA process for faulty hardware components.
