This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval award amount (up to $200000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

The responsibilities of the PA include diagnosis and management of acute and chronic medical and psychosocial conditions health promotion disease prevention overall care management. The type of care served to the Veteran population with diseases and conditions indicating the need for surgical intervention perioperative and postoperative care. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Obtaining medical histories & providing physical examination
- Ordering diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests x-ray and electrocardiograms.
- Request specialty care through consultation.
- Admitting and discharging patients in consultation with and on behalf of the collaborating physician
- Developing a treatment plan providing and coordinating medical care for assigned patients in any care setting including establishing diagnosis and providing follow-up care
- Documentation in the medical record as required by medical center policies and procedures
- Evaluating outpatients to determine the needs for further health care
- Ordering patient care supplies
- Obtaining and documenting informed consents for treatments and procedures
- Function as a surgical assist in the Operating Room
- Performance of perioperative procedure/interventions
