Deputy Attorneys General with critical support from criminal special investigators victim service specialists paraprofessionals and administrative staff prosecute criminal cases enforce consumer laws provide counsel to state agencies ensure the publics access to open government protect the abused and much more.

The Delaware Department of Justice FamilyDivision seeks a Deputy Attorney General to join our phenomenal team in theCriminal & Delinquency Unit and serve as Assistant Unit Head with a focuson child abuse & domestic Deputy Attorneys Generalin this Unit are responsible for drafting motions and briefs performingresearch extending and negotiating plea agreements and taking matters totrial. This is a Unit with a high volume of cases and several court calendarsscheduled per week.

The primary focus of this Assistant Unit Headposition will be to supervise Deputy Attorneys General and support staffworking on adult criminal cases within Family Courts jurisdiction. The Assistant Unit Head will also beresponsible for carrying a specialized caseload of child abuse cases andattending court. This unique positionwill also offer the opportunity to cross-train with juvenile delinquency caseswhich includes both felonies and misdemeanors.

As an Assistant Unit Head this individualwill carry their own caseload and also assist the Unit Head in the directingand managing of other Deputy Attorneys General administrative and supportoperations within the Unit coordination of assignments and training for allunit members and other managerial tasks as needed.

A qualified candidates strengths willinclude experience prosecuting adult criminal cases and experience with childabuse and domestic violence cases is preferred.Additional strengths will include a strong knowledge of criminal law andprocedure the ability to evaluate criminal cases determine resolutions andanticipate legal issues with the ability to research accurately andeffectively. Candidates must have the ability to learn and apply therelevant laws and court rules. Candidates must also have or be ableto develop a good working relationship with other Deputy Attorneys Generalsupport staff and Court personnel. Membership in Delaware Bar required.
