Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):

  • To assist the Svoboda Center in its efforts to support and strengthen student involvement in service both on and off campus.
  • To serve as a student leader for civic and community engagement work on campus by regularly sharing information about the Svoboda Center and other civic engagement opportunities with their peers and being a go to person with civic and community engagement expertise including direct peer-to-peer support.

Transferable Skills:

  • Communicate digitally and in-person with diverse people and communities
  • Gather data about student service organizations programs and efforts across campus
  • Assist with support of the Student Service Advisory Council
  • Curate website content as needed
  • Write content for newsletters about service opportunities as needed
  • Represent program at events
  • Provide peer mentoring for students interested in service

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Svoboda Center Fellow - Student Service Connector will be asked to complete the following including but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Svoboda service-related programs student service organizations and volunteering opportunities with community partners.
  • Work with Svoboda Center to support student service organizations service-related programs and help in connecting community partners to students.
  • Analyze and synthesize student service feedback from students faculty and community partners and provide recommendations for how to improve Svoboda Center work.
  • Assist in data collection tracking and analysis of student service organizations and programs
  • Represent the Svoboda Center at various students events throughout the year
  • Provide 1-1 peer advising for students interested in volunteering and service
  • Attend professional development on civic and community engagement (as schedule permits)
