Reporting to the Supervisor AS Project Quality the Project Quality Engineer partners with CAD Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality and schedule are achieved for complex custom design projects. This role is an integral part of the Architectural Specialties Operations team.

What youll be doing:

  • Ensuring that job specific shop drawings meet Armstrong standards for quality and safety and that the product can be manufactured as specified and performs as intended in customer application
  • Managing critical quality documents including drawings quotes and correspondence
  • Interpreting customer requirements through the use of customer and internal drawings specifications and understanding of product portfolio and supplier capabilities
  • Evaluating the customers requirements compared with companys product specifications
  • Ensuring and maintaining compliance with company and organizational standards
  • Providing technical product expertise when special project issues occur during the shop drawing phase
  • Preparing document set including order forms details Final Order Acknowledgement submittal samples and manufacturing specifications for customer review and supplier use
  • Building SAP entry
  • Updating status in Newforma
  • Consulting with project management on sourcing of system components
  • Consulting with project CAD technician project management and manufacturing to resolve quality production and efficiency problems
  • Proactively seeking continuous process development and process improvement opportunities and bringing same to attention of management and implements as agreed upon
  • Utilizing strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various groups across all levels of the company suppliers and customers
  • Assisting in development of standard work to ensure quality
  • Mentoring CAD personnel w/ regards to Architectural Specialties order process and product knowledge
  • Assisting with estimating CAD drawings CAD peer checks order entry and other Architectural Specialties responsibilities as necessary

What will make you successful:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read architectural/mechanical drawings
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office)
  • Thorough math and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various groups across all levels of the company suppliers and customers
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage workload and competing priorities to meet business needs
  • Excellent Attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • 2 or 4 year technical degree
  • Knowledge of Architectural Specialties ceiling and wall systems
  • Knowledge of WAVE installation systems
  • Knowledge of CAD
