Responsibilities & Qualifications
The Novelis Research & Technology (R&T) team is seeking a Portfolio Manager. Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management this role plays a critical role in optimizing the Research & Technology (R&T) innovation portfolio to improve business impact value creation and sustainability. This role partners closely with R&T leadership project managers finance and IT to enable data-driven decision-making through robust portfolio analytics governance and resource allocation.
The Portfolio Manager ensures effective execution of the stage-gate process delivers actionable insights through advanced analytics and dashboards and helps shift the organization from performance reporting to outcome-driven decision-making. As Novelis global R&T organization continues to grow in complexity and scale this role is essential in balancing priorities managing risk and aligning innovation investments with strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead configuration requirements optimization and execution of portfolio and project management tools (e.g. Accolade Power BI etc) to support R&D governance.
- Support train and facilitate stage-gate processes and gate reviews across the R&D portfolio.
- Develop and continuously improve portfolio management processes by leveraging existing data and collaborating with IT and cross-functional teams.
- Partner to oversee yearly operational and capital expense budget(s) associated with the portfolio.
- Provide leadership in analyzing diagnosing and recommending corrective action for product development challenges. Ensure successful planning and execution of strategic initiatives meeting milestone measurements performance specifications production costs development budget and goal scheduling.
- Ensure prioritization of projects to deliver the greatest return on resources (employee time capital etc) spent.
- Translate complex data into clear compelling narratives using storyboarding and visualization techniques.
- Collaborate with external partners and benchmarking organizations to assess innovation best practices.
Qualifications:
- M.B.A or M.S. in Engineering/Materials Science and/or B. S. degree with 5 years post graduate experience in managing multiple product development phases
- Experience in marketing/strategy
- Project management experience
- Ability to execute change management procedures
- Proven ability to effectively operate in a highly complex environment and deliver quality results
- Proven experience translating business needs into system or analytics requirements
- Advanced data analysis and financial analysis skills
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills
