Job Description

As a member of the projects Finance and Commercial team the Project Accountant is responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting. This role manages full-cycle project accounting including payables receivables tax filings accruals and month-end and year-end close. The Project Accountant prepares monthly financial reports monitors costs revenues and cash flow and ensures compliance with budgets accounting standards and internal controls.

  • Perform full-cycle accounting activities including managing accounts receivable accounts payable holdback accounts HST filings accruals and other related tasks. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Monitor project costs expenses and revenues ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Review and reconcile project-related accounts including payables receivables and general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate with project managers to track project progress and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
  • Conduct regular financial audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis and support to project teams including variance analysis cost benefit analysis and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate with external auditors tax advisors and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices related to project accounting.

Required Skills and Competencies

Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.

5 years proven experience as an accountant preferably in the construction industry.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks SAP or Oracle.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

This role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $79500$111500 CAD with compensation determined based on experience qualifications and internal equity.
