Job Purpose
DELIVERY OF EHSS service to the R&D Tres Cantos site to ensure that delivery of an efficient and effective EHSS service with consistent standards and processes are adopted and a strong and robust partnership exists with the other services within EHSS. Support the EHSS R&D EU Regional Lead with specialist and generalist EHSS expertise in the delivery of EHSS services in the EU region.
Key Responsibilities
Personally act as EH&S lead for the R&D Tres Cantos site. Provide strong leadership strategic direction coordinate and deliver EHS services and programmes in all areas of EHS to the Tres Cantos site.
Provide day to day support as part of the EHSS R&D EU team to deliver first line advice training coaching independent business monitoring emergency response risk assessment incident investigation input to local projects and processes as needed.
Partner with a wide range of customers from different parts of the R&D organization to develop support and ownership of area EHS risk.
Working effectively with other key EHS professionals to deliver an efficient EHS service to business partners facilities and project management staff.
To ensure that senior R&D managers are fully apprised of their responsibilities in risk management and pro-actively support the EHS objectives of R&D. As a critical part of their working with R&D Senior leaders they Chair the site EHS Safety Council and interact directly with R&D senior managers.
To ensure the interests of R&D are represented and protected both within and external to GSK. To maintain comprehensive external and cross business awareness and lead and participate in significant cross company initiatives.
Provide specialist technical services to the research and development groups within the region. This role provides for direction and advice to enable R&D scientific staff to successfully conduct work and remain compliant with local and National EHS regulations and guidelines.
Work effectively with other EHS professionals to ensure comprehensive support is provided to the business and that synergies are maximized between team members and good practice is shared between departments.
Why you
Basic Requirements:
Relevant scientific discipline (e.g. chemistry biology engineering). Environment Health or Safety expertise.
A post-graduate EHS qualification in a relevant discipline. Member of an appropriate EHS professional body. Credentialed in a specific topic area (e.g. CIH)
Highly successful track record (over a period of time) in a range of EHS roles proven ability in successfully managing EHS professionals and interacting credibly with senior R&D Managers.
Medium-High Level of English
