National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for our Family Preservation team for the Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 semesters in our Cincinnati region. Working with the Family Preservation team you will get hands on experience working with youth and families. With the Family Preservation team you will see clients in the community and will also rotate through various other therapeutic areas throughout the agency to gain insight to the communities and clients we serve. This position works closely with youth families foster parents and community partners.
This opportunity is for students enrolled in a Master of Social Work or Master of Clinical Counseling program from an accredited College or University.
Your Internship Experience May Include:
- Providing appropriate individual group and family mental health services case management transportation and other professional services meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served.
- Traveling as needed to provide community-based services to youth and families in compliance with organizational contract and regulatory requirements.
- Completing all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Completing all required training in a timely manner.
- Coordinating and monitoring services for the youth and family in the community for mental health medical educational psychological vocational and social services.
- Regularly reviews and modifies youth-based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
- Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youths primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youths case plan.
- Actively participates in the weekly supervision process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
- Must be enrolled in either a Masterof Social Work or Master of Clinical Counseling program from an accredited College or University.
- An internship or field placement must be a requirement by the institution.
- Upon the completion of the internship the individual would receive credit towards their pursued degree.
- Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship.
- LSW SWT or CT licensure required.
- Experience working in direct service with youth and families is strongly preferred.
- A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours.
- Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
- Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served foster caregivers system partners and internal customers.
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers smart phones and tablets as well as software including word processing spreadsheet and database programs.
Driving and Vehicle Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100000/$300000 bodily injury liability
