Senior Manager Legal Counsel - India Legal Team
Location: Mumbai India - Hybrid (onsite 2-3 days a week)
NIQ India seeks to hire a talented enthusiastic and business-oriented lawyer to join the India Legal team as Senior Manager Legal Counsel.
The successful candidate will primarily work on commercial agreements (clients and vendors) relating to data software fieldwork technology and custom analytics services at the forefront of the evolving retail and manufacturer landscape as well as provide general legal support and counsel for the India operations including Hubs/Centers operations.
The ideal candidate is curious and eager to roll up their sleeves and creatively solve problems. Candidate should be someone who thrives in a dynamic and versatile environment with the capability to manage challenging priorities. The candidate will work in a collaborative culture and with a dynamic team to enable the growth of the Commercial business and Hubs/Centers.
Responsibilities:
- Draft review negotiate and manage (contracts including license agreements master services agreements statements of work data license agreements) and supporting documents.
- Partner with the HR team in addressing labor and employment related queries and matters with legal overplay and collaborate with global Labour and employment (L&E) team as required;
- Partner with the HR team in drafting and implementation of HR and employment related policies/ guidelines/ documents etc.
- Collaborate with Global Investigations & L&E teams in people actions recommendations etc. and advice from India law perspective.
- Manage compliance related queries including POSH requirements and related advisory etc. Develop and conduct trainings or awareness sessions on legal and compliance programs or processes including POSH.
- Partner in developing and maintaining robust corporate governance practices and compliance framework as needed to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with and provide cross-functional support to global and regional corporate departments (Finance Tax Technology/IT Privacy Security Intellectual Property HR etc.); for contracting matters and other matters as needed.
- With the rapid expansion in India have a strong external and risk mindset on new laws and impact on our commercial and hub operations etc.
- Have a strong outlook on identifying gaps and improvement opportunities to ensure consistency in processes feedback outputs and documentation across Commercial and Hubs/Centers in India from a legal perspective.
- Work with team in managing litigations (minimal) including ongoing legacy employment matters and co-ordinate with external lawyers for status progress and strategy;
- Possess an understanding of privacy laws and frameworks.
- Be a strong enabler and strategic partner in supporting the implementation of strategy and growth initiatives for commercial operations and hubs.
Qualifications :
Qualifications:
- Qualified Lawyer/LLB and LLM will be an added advantage;
- 10 years of work experience (experience at a law firm and/or MNC in-house is preferred).
Skills:
- High attention to detail;
- Ability to challenge status quo and suggest new ways of doing things;
- Demonstrate ability to think and decide quickly and to communicate legal issues and solutions clearly and concisely to lawyers and non-lawyers alike;
- Understanding of the need for responsiveness and an eagerness to work directly with internal business teams to answer questions and give guidance as needed;
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a remote environment within a globally distributed team and a fast-paced business environment.
- Experience in handling employment matters litigations and labor advisory;
- Maintain a global mindset in performing responsibilities and demonstrate a high degree of initiative with minimal direct supervision;
- Strong interest in emerging Legal tech/simplification of processes etc.
