This role is about more than wine knowledge its about stewardship. As Wine Sommelier at Parkers Table you are the custodian of the collection and an on-the-floor ambassador for one of the Bow Valleys most respected cellars. You blend technical expertise with approachability elevating each dining experience through thoughtful pairings engaging dialogue and precise service.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Storytelling
- Guide guests through wine selections for à la carte dishes and multi-course tasting menus.
- Deliver elevated wine experiences including tableside tastings and educational moments.
- Translate terroir producer intent and pairing philosophy into accessible engaging storytelling.
- Collaborate seamlessly with service teams to ensure precise timing presentation and flow.
- Respond to guest preferences and questions with confidence warmth and discretion.
Wine Program Stewardship
- Curate manage and evolve Parkers Table wine list with a strong focus on Canadian and international excellence.
- Maintain and elevate the cellar supporting ongoing national and international recognition.
- Partner with Culinary leadership to select wines that complement seasonal menus and tasting journeys.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the wine program while honoring established standards.
Education & Team Development
- Lead regular staff tastings and wine education sessions.
- Train servers assistant servers and bartenders on wine knowledge pairing principles and service standards.
- Serve as a trusted resource for the floor supporting confidence and consistency across the team.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee wine inventory purchasing storage rotation and cellar organization.
- Maintain pristine cellar and wine service areas.
- Ensure wine service is executed with elegance accuracy and adherence to Parkers Table standards.
- Support compliance with all liquor legislation health regulations and hotel policies.
Qualifications :
What You Bring
Formal sommelier certification (WSET Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent).
Proven experience in fine dining or wine-focused high-end restaurant environments.
Deep knowledge of Canadian and international wines with strong pairing intuition.
Confident communication skills and comfort leading tastings and staff education.
A hands-on guest-first approach with a passion for hospitality and storytelling.
ProServe certification required.
Bonus If You Bring
Experience managing a cellar recognized by national or international wine programs.
Passion for emerging Canadian producers and lesser-known global regions.
Previous luxury hotel or destination dining experience.
A mentorship mindset and desire to grow others through knowledge-sharing.

Physical Demands
Continuous standing and walking throughout service periods.
Frequent lifting and carrying of wine cases and bottles (up to 22lbs / 10kg).
Repetitive use of glassware wine tools and cellar equipment.
Frequent bending reaching and fine motor movements.
Ability to work in a dining environment with exposure to noise temperature variation and cleaning chemicals.
Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
