Duties

In a developmental capacity incumbent performs work designed to increase the skills and knowledge required to perform higher level financial litigation technician duties.

- Develops analyzes and evaluates information regarding debtors financial asset.
- Reviews and analyzes claims for legal merit and compliance with the Federal Debt Collection Procedures Act.
- Reviews evaluates and verifies debtors account status and payment transactions.
- Works closely with supervisor or AUSAs in making recommendations concerning settlements write-offs and liquidations of civil and/or criminal judgments.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Each grade has 10 step rates and new Federal employees are usually hired at step one of the applicable GS grade level at which the applicant qualified. The salary range for a GS-7 in San Francisco California is $63081- $82007 (step 1 through step 10).

This position has a full performance level of GS-8.

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint credit and tax checks and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service if applicable.
  • If selected you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level you must meet the Specialized Experience requirement below:

Have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing a variety of technical support work requiring knowledge of the laws regulations and requirements of financial litigation. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: obtaining and analyzing financial information on debtors initiating contact with debtors conducting skip tracing activity communicating with debtors to present options for debt payments and producing a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office software applications ensuring proper format spelling punctuation capitalization and grammar.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
