Responsibilities:
The Academic Advisor will serve as an academic support person in determining NCAA progress toward degree eligibility and providing academic progress reports to coaches and administration. This position will assist in preparation of NCAA and conference addition this position will mentor a diverse population of student-athletes in transition to college and implement plans to aid in academic achievement of student-athletes. The Academic Advisor will assist in the recruitment process and academic orientation of student-athletes. This position also works with software appropriate for academic advising and eligibility. The Academic Advisor counsel students on scheduling of classes to maintain eligibility and ensure academic success. This position will also work athletic events.
Qualifications:
A bachelors degree from an accredited college/university is required along with prior experience advising and/or teaching in an athletic academic setting which should include experience determining the eligibility of student-athletes. Candidates with a masters degree and/or NCAA Division I athletic work experience are highly desirable.
Candidates must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the universitys carrier.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of NCAA eligibility requirements.
Ability to intervene advise and implement solution to assist in academic achievement of student-athletes.
Need to have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals.
Understand advising process for collegiate student-athletes.
Ability to travel on university business and must be insurable by the universitys carrier.
