Job Summary
Summary
This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR position description Dwithin the NJ AASF of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32 Excepted Service position.
The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination of the subordinate work activities and functions.
As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR WSyou will:
- Plans the overall allocation of personnel and other resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which because of their scope volume and complexity must be planned on a quarterly or longer basis.
- Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines. Balances work load for subordinate work groups. Promotes economical and efficient work operations.
- Spot checks work operations to assure production and quality standards are met.
- Coordinates work operations with other organizations and functions.
- Makes formal appraisal of supervisors work performance and reviews employee appraisals submitted by them.
- Promotes and administers such programs as cost reduction incentive awards suggestions and quality assurance. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed.
- Assures that appropriate production reports and administrative records are maintained. Acts on personnel problems referred by subordinate supervisors.
- Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations inspections mobilization and command support exercises.
- May be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty security guard snow removal munitions loading and handling heavy equipment operation maintenance of facilities and equipment or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
Conditions of employment
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing states National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. *Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)
Qualifications
General Experience:
Experience with the following:
- Explain manuals and work procedures for UH-72A aircraft
- Ability to organize assignments for subordinates
- Prepare production records work records and reports
- Estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs
Must have 36 months of the following Specialized Experience:
- Knowledge of shop processes
- Possess or able to acquire an A&P license
- Adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations
- Knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function
- Plan direct and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel
- Review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines
- Supervise or the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts
