Operative

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of an Operative on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 16.06 - 21.40 per hour

Summary:

A frontline outdoor role delivering high-quality grounds maintenance and environmental services including grass cutting and strimming. The post holder will work safely in all weather conditions support the Area Supervisor and contribute to an efficient customer-focused service.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver Grounds Maintenance and Environmental Services to a good standard including grass cutting strimming and general site maintenance.
• Carry out outdoor work in all weather conditions including occasional heavy lifting such as moving and lifting bags of green waste or wet leaves.
• Use horticultural and grounds maintenance equipment safely following training.
• Assist the Area Supervisor in delivering an effective and efficient service.
• Work independently and as part of a team to complete daily schedules.
• Promote high standards of customer service and act as a Council ambassador.
• Work flexibly with other crews to ensure service continuity.
• Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role and grade

Qualifications:

• Willingness and ability to achieve a nationally recognised qualification (NVQ Level 1 or equivalent) in cleansing waste management or grounds maintenance.

Essentials:

• At least 6 months experience as a loader sweeper or grounds maintenance operative.
• Proven working knowledge of horticultural tasks particularly grass cutting and strimming using 2-stroke strimmers is desirable.
• Experience in using horticultural power tools is desirable.
• Willingness to undertake regular training as required.
• Physically fit and able to carry out outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical duties including lifting and manual handling.
• Ability to work safely and follow health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team or on own initiative.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services.
• Willingness and ability to use handheld devices and mobile phones for work purposes.
• Ability to adhere to the Councils Equality Diversity and Dignity at Work policies.
