This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval award amount (up to $200000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Registered Nurse (RN) in Outpatient Mental Health Clinic who provides assessments nursing support during clinic visits triage services and medication management for Veterans with mental illness. Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support treatment plans and monitor patient outcomes through clinical reminders and metabolic monitoring for patients on antipsychotic medications.
Provides nursing support during clinic visits and assists with triage between clinic visits with the Veterans assigned provider
Completes nursing assessments including clinical reminders related to mental health and primary care performance measures
Assists in metabolic monitoring for patients on antipsychotic medications and follows up on laboratory results
Conducts Long-Acting Neuroleptic injection clinic and assists with medication refills between visits
Triages for psychiatry providers including disposition of walk-in and unscheduled patients and assists Veterans in crisis
Reviews and responds to communication through MyHealtheVet (Secure Messaging and voice mails) to monitor treatment results
Conducts assessments and reassessments of mental health illness symptoms and assists in development and implementation of patient treatment plans
Serves as a liaison to staff community agencies and other health care providers regarding patient needs in the community and home setting
Participates in interdisciplinary team framework applying the nursing process with close supervision
Maintains competency through participation in unit-based educational activities and continuing education requirements
