Job Summary

The Opportunity

The Project Manager role is a communicator who brings people together to fully define the problem explore solutions scope out deliverables and drive to completion with agility. You are adept at building relationships based on transparency and accountability and leverage that accountability as you partner with your project business leaders. Your experience in Agile and Waterfall helps you to find the right approach and coach the team to get the job done. Proven ability to deliver large or transformation projects is an asset. You deliver relevant outcomes by leveraging your key stakeholder feedback channels while managing schedule and budget commitments. You share your knowledge freely and are always open to learn new approaches.

Location: Vancouver BC or the closest regional office. (Hybrid)
Reports to: Leader Project Management Office

Responsibilities of the Project Manager Include:

  • Maintainintegrated delivery plans covering scope timelines capacity dependencies and change impacts.
  • Lead planning across three work horizons scrum-based software delivery mid-range requirements planning andlonger-termhigh-level planning and road-mapping.
  • Monitor and share key internal and external dependencies risks and opportunities
  • Oversee and track discovery workshops that support critical business alignment.
  • Developing work plans with resource estimates timelines and change impact analysis
  • Manages project deliverables in collaboration with Business Leads Business Improvement Analysts Project Team members IT teams and all business users

During a Project Lifecycle you will:

  • Accountable for project timelines scope of work resourcing budget and communication plans
  • Leadscrum execution teams while ensuring upstream requirements and story definition are tracking to keep the pipeline full.
  • Builds a strong sense of team with mutual accountability
  • Facilities workshops working group meetings and steering committee meetings with participants from all levels of the organization can capture and validate outcomes with participants
  • Promote collaboration and drive decision-making often in a consensus-based environment where there might be tension between regulatory operational and client-based views of the safety system
  • Provides feedback to Leaders of project team members for their performance management and to facilitate their professional growth and development
  • Ensure yourself and your team are meeting commitments and deadlines in a timely and accountable manner
  • Provides opportunities for project team members to take on responsibilities as a tactic to increase project participation and interest
  • Communicates transparent and timely project updates to the PMO Leader including notable project risks and opportunities
  • Contributes to and helps develop maturity of project management practices with a focus on Agile and Human-centered Design (HCD)
  • Advocates for project management as a skill and seeds best practices into the organization may include mentoring opportunities
  • Shares knowledge and skills freely with colleagues maintains a growth mindset and openly shares successes and challenges
  • Monitors and promotes adherence to corporate data governance policy and personal privacy protection

Knowledge Skills & Experience you have:

Required:

  • 5 years managing complex multi-stream technology projects or business transformation projects.
  • Degree in business administration computer science or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills(clear and concise).
  • Experience in all aspects of project management and requirements gathering including evaluations change management software implementations and quality assurance
  • Experience leading agile teams to successful outcomes
  • Proven ability to guide project prioritization in a capacity-constrained environment
  • Strong risk management and structured planning capabilitywith a high attention to detail

          Nice-to-have:

          • 7 years of organization-scale transformation project management experience
          • Scrum Master or other Agile designation (Preferred)
          • PMP PMI-ACP or other project management certification (Preferred)
          • Data migration and data quality improvementexperienceduring multiâyear transitions where the system of record shifts from legacy to new platforms.
          • Client-centric approaches such as Human-Centered Design (HCD) or Design Thinking
          • Experience with long-term planning (1-5 years)
