About the Position:

This is an open continuous announcement. The initial cut off date for referral is 31 DEC 2026 after this date additional referral lists will be created as vacancies are available. This announcement may be used to fill full-time or part-time work schedules.


Duties

  • Operating an Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) cash register coupled to a scanning system and scale and/or a stand-alone register system.
  • Individually input item codes and/or prices when items do not properly scan.
  • Respond courteously to patron questions concerning order processing and item costs.
  • Turn in cash and negotiable instruments in accordance with store policy.
  • Bag items hand out flyers and/or coupons and assists patrons in the correct processing of their orders.
  • Respond to questions and/or issues raised by customers using a knowledge of the specific commissary store and established procedures.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Male applicants born after December 31 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
  • Must be able to satisfy the requirements of the 26JUL12 DODI 1400.25 V1230 DoD Civilian Personnel Management System: Employment in Foreign Areas and Employee Return Rights. Visit position requires rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings weekends holidays or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • The position may be Full-Time (40hrs Per Week) or Part-Time (Not to Exceed 32hrs Per Week).
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift up to 40lbs.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid official U.S. Passport.

In order to qualify you must meet the general experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is

General Experience: Six months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled such as answering questions and complaints from customers counting cash till and operating a cash register.

Education
: One year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business secretarial or technical school junior college college or university. (NOTE: You Must Submit a Copy of Your Transcripts).

Combination of Education and Experience
: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You Must Submit a Copy of Your Transcripts).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
