Job Summary

Summary

This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Procurement Acquisition and Logistics (OPAL) National Acquisition Center Denver Logistics Service (DLS) in Golden Colorado. The position is assigned to the Hearing Aid Repair Laboratory (LAB) within the Veteran Services Division (VSD).


Duties

Major Duties:

  • Verifying and authorizing hearing aid repair service requests in accordance with established policies and contract requirements.
  • Works with clients and customers to assess their needs provide information or assistance resolve their problems or satisfy their expectations; informed about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Performing quality control on commercially repaired hearing devices through visual inspection operational and listening checks and reviewing manufacturers technical specifications to ensure compliance prior to return to the Veteran or VA facility.
  • Providing customer service support to internal and external customers including Veterans VA staff and vendors.
  • May also serve in a backup call center capacity responding to a high volume of inquiries which may include handling 250 or more calls during a standard shift.

Promotion Potential: This position is at the full performance level.

Work Schedule: 06:00am-6:00pm (Required to work Monday-Friday with various tours available pending supervisory approval.)

    As a condition of employment for accepting this position you may be required to serve a one year probationary period or two year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public determining if your employment advances the public interest we may consider:

    Qualifications

    To qualify for this position applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 02/06/2026.

    Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade as required by the this instance you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.     • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: experience using order placement and order fulfillment production systems to complete tasks such as remote order entry systems purchase orders order certification adjustments and resolving issues; experience researching and using billing and credit policies and procedures to include billing reports and pricing; knowledge of supply and inventory systems distribution and shipping/postal methods and regulations.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

    Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.     Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary although some walking stooping bending reaching and carrying of loads weighing 25 to 40 pounds is required.
