Project Manager (Chinese Fluent Technical Know-how)

Location: Perth (office) & Meckering Western Australia (primary site presence)

Travel: Regular travel to China required

Languages: English & Mandarin (fluency required)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Project Manager to join our Greenfield Project this key role you will ensure the quality and compliance of equipment and materials supplied by our Chinese vendorsboth at the source in China and upon arrival at our construction site in Meckering Western Australia.

This position requires a strong technical background excellent communication skills and the ability to act as a bridge between our Construction Manager in Australia and our Chinese suppliers. You will play a central role in safeguarding project quality timelines and alignment across all parties.

It should be noted that this position operates as a one-man/woman show with no internal engineering team present onsite. The successful candidate will independently manage technical matters and supplier interactions ensuring all responsibilities are handled single-handedly.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure the quality of deliverables from Chinese suppliers including factory inspections and quality audits in China.
• Monitor supplier performance and quality compliance throughout manufacturing delivery and installation phases.
• Serve as the key interface between Chinese suppliers the Construction Manager and other internal stakeholders ensuring smooth communication and mutual understanding.
• Translate technical and commercial topics effectively between Mandarin and English facilitating clear and efficient decision-making.
• Support onsite construction activities in Meckering resolving technical or supplier-related issues quickly and effectively.
• Coordinate documentation reporting and quality assurance processes.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Engineering (Electrical Mechanical) Construction Management or a related technical field.
• Strong technical background with hands-on experience in industrial construction or large-scale project environments.
• Proven experience working with Chinese suppliers or manufacturing partners (quality oversight experience strongly preferred).
• Fluency in Mandarin and English (written and spoken).
• Demonstrated understanding of both Chinese and Australian/western cultures with the ability to navigate and bridge cultural differences in business and technical contexts.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel to China as needed.
