The Opportunity:
As the Coastal Hazards and Resilience Coordinator you will serve as the Coastal Hazards Organizational Resilience Team (COHORT) Liaison for Washington State University (WSU) this role you will work in partnership with representatives from other COHORT agencies including the Washington Department of Ecology Washington Sea Grant and the Washington Emergency Management Division to advance COHORTs strategic initiatives as outlined in the 2025 COHORT Strategic Plan. COHORT is a multi agency partnership established through legislative direction under Washington Public Law 5187 .
You will contribute to COHORTs mission to strengthen long term social economic and organizational resilience across Washingtons 15 coastal counties by improving cross agency coordination supporting community driven project development and advancing preparedness adaptation and recovery efforts related to coastal hazards such as flooding erosion landslides earthquakes tsunamis and climate driven changes.
In your role as Liaison you will collaborate across multiple agencies and WSU Extension county offices within your assigned region. You will ensure alignment with WSU Extensions mission vision and goals build and maintain strong partnerships with local and tribal governments and stakeholders and support a cohesive and effective team of COHORT professionals.

This is a full time (100% FTE) temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on June 30 2027. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.
Monthly Salary: $4386.85 - $6580 Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications
A Bachelors degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance withSPPM 7.10and departmental driving standards.
Ability to work a flexible yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of experience in two or more of the following: Development facilitation and/or delivery of technical programmatic information to a wide variety of professional audiences and subject-matter experts.
Working in an environment requiring strong customer relations negotiations and problem resolution skills.
Conducting community outreach and engagement building and strengthening relationships.
Explaining complex or technical information regarding rules rights regulations policies procedures programs or services to answer questions resolve problems and communicate decisions or actions.
Monitoring and evaluating administrative and construction grants for grant compliance for federal state local governments or private entities.
Developing negotiating monitoring and administering contracts and procurement with public and private nonprofit entities.
Developing preparing monitoring briefing and evaluating grants and contract budgets including evaluation of progress versus project expenditures.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with persons of varying levels
of responsibility and experience both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Workday.
