Tekberry is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer III / Mechanical Designer to support our client a leading global science and technology company at their Hickory Manufacturing & Technology Center in North Carolina. This role focuses on machine design and product development supporting engineering initiatives from concept through production in a highly technical manufacturing and lab environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong SolidWorks expertise hands-on machine design experience and the ability to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of mechanical systems components and equipment with a focus on functionality durability and cost-effectiveness
Create 3D models detailed drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks for manufacturing and prototyping
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering manufacturing quality) throughout the product development lifecycle
Perform engineering calculations simulations and failure analyses to ensure designs meet performance safety and reliability requirements
Develop and maintain technical documentation including design specifications bills of materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions
Support manufacturing teams by optimizing designs for producibility quality and cost
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting timelines and technical objectives
Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Perform other related engineering duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in mechanical and machine design
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling assemblies drawings; simulations preferred)
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles materials and manufacturing processes
Proven problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Experience with prototyping and rapid manufacturing techniques
Exposure to electrical systems and controls
Experience with microcontrollers and basic programming (e.g. Python C) is a plus
