Reporting to the Supervisor Operations - Wastewater this position performs all aspects of the day to day work activities of the Wastewater Operations. With the support of the Wastewater treatmentSenior Operator this position is responsible to operate maintain and troubleshoot the three Wastewater Treatment Facilities. This role collaborates with the Wastewater Senior Operator and assists in operation and maintenance of the collection systems. Under the direction of the immediate Supervisor or Senior Operator carries out all duties using appropriate equipment effectively and in a manner that will ensure the safety of self co-workers and the public. Key accountabilities are to perform work functions and operations while ensuring compliance as to the regulations governing Wastewater Treatment.

How you contribute to our organization:

• Perform all aspects of work related to the operation and maintenance of all wastewater treatment facilities and their lift stations.
• Interpret SCADA trending and makes operational changes as required. Check clarifier aeration return and wasting rates lagoons pumps and lab equipment. Performs all aspects of sampling and laboratory analysis. Ensure documentation of all operational changes are accurate and are recorded in the facilities daily log book.
• Maintain compliance as per the treatment plants ECA requirements and MECP regulations.
• Work in compliance with the Corporate Health and Safety Policy and all other corporate policies procedures and operational guidelines.
• Responsible for filling out service requests and daily work orders through CityWorks program.
• Responsible for the weekly calibrations of all process sensors and probes.
• Perform On-Call duties as per the Conditions of Employment on a rotational basis.
• Must complete 40 hours of training per year as per the MECP regulations.
• Must have the ability to attain the highest level of licence required to operate the Town of New Tecumseth wastewater systems.
  

What you bring to the team:

• Requires successful completion of Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent.
• Four (4) year post secondary diploma/degree program in an environmental engineering or applied science field preferred.
• Operator in Training Wastewater Treatment licence per 129/04 s 14 (1).
• DZ licence is required; however the Town may hire qualified individuals without a DZ licence under the agreement that the new employee shall obtain their DZ licence within 1 year from their hire date.
• 1 year experience in municipal wastewater operations or industrial wastewater treatment preferred.
• Experience operating a back-hoe dump truck and power/flusher vac would be considered an asset.
• Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification or the ability to obtain within 1 month upon hire.
• Ability to pass Respirator Fit Test.
• Intermediate computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook Excel Word Teams and OneDrive) Cityworks computerized maintenance management system SCADA and the internet.

Pay Rate:

• $25.83 $32.30 (OIT- Operator in Training)
• $29.05 $36.31 (Class 1)
• $34.01 $42.51 (Class 2)

Hours: 40 Hours per Week plus standby duties on rotational basis
