About the role

Our Data Centre of Excellence (Data CoE) shapes the data strategy for the organisation setting the standards that ensure our data is accessible trusted and ready to power insights that support SLCs mission.

As a Graduate Data Analyst youll play a meaningful role in delivering key projects across the Data CoE. This 24month rotational programme gives you handson experience across critical business areas while you develop skills in data management reporting analytics and performance insight.

Through structured learning modules and daytoday project work youll build your technical skills grow your professional confidence and contribute directly to business decisions and outcomes.

Youll rotate across four key teamsData Management Business Intelligence Operations Business Intelligence and Repayments Insight & Performancegiving you a unique understanding of the diverse data needs of a complex UKwide Department for Education (DfE) organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore different areas of data before choosing where you want to specialise all while working on projects that support students across all four nations of the UK.

Throughout the programme youll collaborate with experienced colleagues receive dedicated mentorship and be supported to develop the skills and confidence you need to take the next step in your career.

What you bring:


Essential

  • Degree-level qualification in Data Science/Analytics Mathematics Statistics or related field at 2.2 or above anticipated by Summer 2026 or gained within the last two years
  • Ability to
    • communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and customers by actively listening delivering quality information timely and professional support that upholds public service
    • manage interpret and use data to support decision making and drive effective outcomes
    • use digital tools and technologies to communicate access information and solve problems
    • identify assess and manage risks to minimise potential impacts
    • demonstrate readiness to new ways of working and remain effective in ambiguous situations while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Adaptable and willingness to learn across multiple business areas


Desirable

  • Understanding of Data Management principles (e.g. data definition data lineage/CRUD)
  • Familiarity with dashboard and report development and data visualization principles
  • Experience with data analysis or reporting tools and coding languages (e.g. Tableau SQL)
