Job Summary

Main Responsibilities 

Programme Development and Committee Support 

  • Support the work of the Radioactive Waste Management Committee (RWMC) and its sub-groups in delivering their Programme of Work that integrate technical safety requirements with societal expectations ethical considerations and governance frameworks. 

  • Contribute to the development of practical solutions for nuclear waste management and decommissioning challenges including collecting country-specific data conducting in-depth analyses organising expert discussions and preparing high-quality summary reports.  

  • Track and rigorously analyse developments in social science research related to Radioactive Waste Management encompassing risk perception community engagement and long-term stewardship. 

  • Identify and advance opportunities for collaborative projects and cooperative actions in radioactive waste management. 

  • Work closely with other NEA divisions to support cross-cutting projects publications and events in related technical and policy areas. 

  • Implement joint undertakings among interested member countries to address specific radioactive waste and decommissioning issues. 

International Coordination and Representation 

  • Maintain strong working relationships and coordinate relevant activities with key external organisations including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) the European Commission (EC) and other governmental and non-governmental bodies such as EPRI. 

  • Represent the RWMD and the NEA at high-level international fora on radioactive waste and decommissioning issues communicating NEA perspectives and activities effectively. 

Facilitation of Technical Committees Workshops and Reports 

  • Provide technical and organisational support for the meetings of committees and subsidiary bodies including expert groups and international cooperative projects. Responsibilities include guidance on the Programme of Work meeting preparation and facilitation and drafting of summary records. 

  • Provide expert contributions to the drafting review and editing of scientific and technical reports as well as policy-relevant documents including coordinating contributions from external experts and consultants. 

  • Support cross-cutting technical and policy initiatives led by NEA standing technical committees and working groups. 

  • Organise scientific workshops and conferences including logistical planning documentation and financial oversight. 

Other Tasks 

  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Division RWMD. 


Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile 

Academic Background 

  • Advanced degree in public policy international affairs social sciences engineering or a related field with demonstrated experience in radioactive waste management or the nuclear sector. 

Professional Background 

  • Minimum of five years of experience in the nuclear sector and socio-technical analysis preferably in radioactive waste management and decommissioning. Experience in consensus-building among national and international experts on RWM and decommissioning priorities. 

  • Proven national level and international experience interacting with senior officials and experts from governmental organisations regulatory authorities and research institutions. 

  • Proven experience in leading dialogues of a team of diverse experts. 

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage simultaneously several programme of works with strict deadlines and within budget.

Languages  

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other with a commitment to reach a good working level.

Contract Duration  

  • 24 month fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal to a maximum of 36 months.

  • Monthly salary starts at 8 09838 EUR plus allowances based on eligibility exempt of French income tax.
