Data Science Senior Manager, Business and Strategy Analytics (Japan)

About the Team
The Business and Strategy Analytics team is part of the Intelligence and Data Solutions team partnering with the Asia Pacific Regional Presidents Office to enable Visa internal business units to optimize performance and profitability and make data-driven decisions. The successful candidate will focus on driving value from Visas unique data assets to strengthen and extend Visas impact in the payments landscape for the Japan market. Based in Tokyo Japan this role requires strong business acumen and analytical skills to deliver data science projects that solve Visas business objectives.

What an Data Science Senior Manager does at Visa:
The successful candidate will focus on driving value from Visa unique data assets to strengthen and extend Visas impact in the payments landscape for Japan market. You will be required to use your business acumen along with analytical skillset to deliver data science projects that solve Visas business objectives. Based on findings from data-driven analysis you will draw fact-based insights and make actionable recommendations that reflect the business and context. You will be required to work with large data sets using quantitative techniques and build complex statistical models that learn from big data and provide data visualization to enable business stakeholders consume the information. Data sets will include but not limited to VisaNet transaction data Visa operational data and relevant third party data sources. We have a highly collaborative process and you are required to work across multiple teams and functions for leading & developing cutting edge creative and advanced analytic solutions.
The role reports to Management Intelligence Lead within the AP Business and Strategy Analytics team and also the Head of Japan Strategy Business Planning & Operations and will be based in Tokyo.
 

Other Key Functions Of The Role Include:
The position requires the ability to apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve business problems and quickly arrive at recommendations that drive corporate priorities.

• Support annual strategic planning process and development of long-range revenue growth plan together with Visas economic (pricing and interchange)
• Analyze Visa data market reports and benchmarks to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Support the development of long and short strategic plan as well as formulating strategic projects
• Support functional teams by identifying priorities and implementing necessary strategies to achieve financial year target while conducting performance management for key business volume targets
• Manage and troubleshoot reporting via data dashboards perform root-cause analysis to resolve data discrepancies and ensure data integrity
• Partner with Japan leadership teams to formulate and execute key strategies for the market
• Collaborate with various Visa product sales consulting marketing gvt engagement teams and others to manage and track the implementation of strategic initiatives

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. 

Qualifications :

Technical Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of analytical expertise in applying statistical solutions to business problems
• Post graduate degree in Quantitative field such as Statistics Mathematics Operational Research Computer Science Economics or engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience in working with real-world data sets and building scalable models from large-scale data
• Hands on experience with multiple data analytics and data science programming tools and technologies such as SQL Python Hive R Spark TensorFlow PyTorch scikit-learn etc
• Proficiency in data visualization and data visualization tools such as Tableau PowerBI etc
• Knowledge of statistical and data science techniques such as neural networks gradient boosting logistic regression advanced forecasting techniques etc

Business Qualifications:

• English and Japanese language proficiency in formal business communication (verbal and written)
• Results oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
• Good business acumen with strong ability to solve business problems through data driven quantitative methodologies. Experience in cards/payments retail banking or retail merchant industries is important
• Team oriented collaborative diplomatic and flexible style with the ability to tailor data driven results to various audience levels
• Detail-oriented and able to ensure highest level of quality/rigor in reports & data analysis
• Proven skills in translating analytics output to actionable recommendations and delivery
• Experience in presenting ideas and analysis to stakeholders
• Exhibit intellectual curiosity and strive to continually learn
