Job Description:
The Corporate Strategy & Enablement Teams focus is to support Sun Life in achieving and maintaining a position of sustainable strategic advantage and growth in the long term. It has a broad focus on enterprise topics that span all Business Groups and geographic markets where Sun Life operates.
The Corporate Strategy & Enablement team works in a dynamic and collaborative team-based environment providing team members stretch opportunities to work on the most challenging and interesting problems exposure to senior executives and ability to diversify knowledge of Sun Lifes businesses.
What will you do
The Senior Consultant Corporate Strategy & Enablement role will report to the AVP Corporate Strategy & Enablement. The Senior Consultant will support ongoing delivery of internal strategy design and execution and the annual strategic planning cycle working effectively with teams across Sun Life to deliver strategy projects and proactively monitor and analyze trends. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced team-first environment with a focus on supporting strategy and enablement project delivery engaging senior leaders across Sun Life to solve key strategic questions / issues and structuring quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve critical strategic questions. The Senior Consultant will work on a project squad with their respective AVP and will receive coaching and mentorship from Directors on the team.
Strategy development and planning
Bring new perspectives and creative ideas to develop innovative and practical approaches and solutions to ambiguous problems and issues
Conduct quantitative (e.g. financial modeling market sizing) and qualitative (e.g. benchmarking expert synthesis) analysis
Develop and execute analysis plans using internal and external data sources
Strategy and enablement project delivery:
Work independently to drive analysis and deliverables forward and proactively engage with other team members (both within and outside of Corporate Strategy & Enablement team) to gather information and feedback
Manage coordination of workstreams across team members to ensure timely delivery
Support presentation of findings and facilitation of discussions with senior management including implementation planning
Trends and Competitive intelligence:
Monitor industry trends competitor actions and market developments
Curate insights and identify implications for Sun Lifes strategy
Proactively share relevant patterns and themes with internal stakeholders
Communication and stakeholder management:
Effectively communicate insights ideas and strategies clearly & concisely to an executive level audience
Develop and maintain cross-functional relationships with junior to mid-level team membersacross the organization to identify emerging needs and opportunities
What do you need to succeed
5 years of relevant business experience - ideally in financial services consulting or insurance
Excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills - experience working with data conducting analysis interpreting results and writing reports/presentations
Strong results-oriented project management skills; well organized with a high attention to details
Resourceful in learning and ramping up knowledge in new domains rapidly
Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders across multiple teams
Able to work independently on assignments with appropriate judgment
Strong understanding of at least one Sun Life business area (e.g. asset management insurance wealth management) and geographic markets (Canada US Asia) is an asset
