A combined position as clinical professor (50%) and as consultant (50%) is vacant at theDepartment of Regional Health ResearchFaculty of Health SciencesUniversity of Southern Denmark (SDU)and at The Unit for Anatomic Pathology Department of Clinical Diagnostics University Hospital of Southern Denmark in Esbjerg respectively. The position is for a five-year period

The academic position
The clinical professor will be appointed at the Department of Regional Health Research Faculty of Health Sciences SDU. The position will be within Anatomy and pathologic anatomy at the research unit of pathology Esbjerg Grindsted University Hospital. Research focus areas could include but are not limited to neuropathology including biological psychiatry and neurodegenerative diseases gastrointestinal pathology both neoplastic and non-neoplastic and molecular pathology. Trans-sectional research and collaboration is expected. Teaching will be in anatomy and pathology with a focus on gross anatomy.

Areas of responsibility
The clinical professor will be responsible for neuropathology and anatomic pathology research. The clinical professor will also be responsible for developing new strategies for collaboration with other key stakeholders in the areas of personalised medicine within gastrointestinal pathology and cancer prediction by molecular pathology.
Additionally the clinical professor should teach and mentor post-docs PhD-students and undergraduate students as well as maintain and develop national and international contacts and secure external funding. Teaching assignments include carrying the responsibility for establishing courses in gross anatomy at the undergraduate medical school at University of Southern Denmark-. Participation in assessment work is part of the position. Moreover profiling this research area in the public eye will be an important task.

Research activity network and collaboration
The clinical professor is expected to increase research activity at the research unit of pathology and to expand collaboration with other researchers at hospitals in the region of Southern Denmark at SDU the rest of Denmark and abroad.

The clinical position
The clinician will be appointed as consultant at The Unit for Anatomic Pathology Department of Clinical Diagnostics University Hospital of Southern Denmark in consultant must fulfil the requirements and responsibilities of a consultant in a department of Anatomic Pathology including the fields of gastrointestinal and soft tissue pathology. The clinical position includes the responsibility for postgraduate training of Speciality Trainees in the department.

Qualifications
The successful applicant has a PhD or equivalent post-graduate research qualification and must be qualified as a consultant in Anatomic Pathology and Cytology. Additionally the applicant must have substantial skills in both clinical aspects and research within the field of Pathology. Extensive experience in university teaching and a completed university Lecturer Training Programme is required or should be obtained within the first year of employment. The preferred candidate has demonstrated skills and scientific achievements within the area of pathology research and university teaching is able to motivate supervise and has proven research and teaching management skills good interpersonal skills and has visions of how to further strengthen TheDepartment of Clinical language skills are not required initially but must be mastered atproficiency level C1 at theCommon European Framework of References for Languageswithin the first 2 years of employment.
