3-Month Contract/Temp Assignment

Pay Rate: $40.00 - $45.00/hour
Our client is seeking a Contract Specialist to join our Strategic Procurement & Contracts (SPC) team. This role serves as a primary resource for processing contractual agreements related to procurement of goods and services. You will support multiple commodities and agreement types while working independently to review draft and negotiate terms that comply with university standards and policies.
As the Contract Specialist you will lead contract negotiations and achieve mutual agreement between parties. You must be capable of processing contracts based on both University-provided and supplier-provided terms while maintaining required contract language for university policies and regulatory compliance. You will partner with campus stakeholders to understand business needs and work with subject-matter experts to achieve project goals.
This position also provides guidance to other SPC team members and campus stakeholders on contract-related issues and business processes. You will manage requests through our enterprise contract management system (BCM) and perform various system support tasks.
Major Responsibility:
1. Contract Management - 85%
- Review draft negotiate approve and prepare contract agreements submitted via the Contract Management system (BCM)
- Apply university standard terms and conditions prior to routing agreements for execution
- Serve as liaison between campus partners departmental stakeholders supplier representatives and university subject matter experts
- Perform internal and external review functions in BCM
- Establish and improve communication channels with campus partners
- Provide guidance and advice on basic contract review and best practices
- Help partners understand contract risks and make recommendations to mitigate risks
- Negotiate agreements with suppliers according to policies and procedures
- Leverage subject matter experts as needed
- Represent universitys best interests to outside parties concerning terms and conditions
- Identify potential problems or risks and provide workable alternative solutions
- Structure contracts to meet desired objectives and avoid unnecessary costs
- Maintain relationships with key campus stakeholder groups
- Identify appropriate stakeholders for specific contract discussions and negotiations
- Perform research and gather information as needed
- Work with other SPC team members to understand categories of goods and services
- Coordinate contract reviews across different areas
- Work with insurance staff to understand and communicate university insurance requirements
- Ensure compliance and appropriate risk allocation
- Promote compliance with policies procedures and state/federal regulations
- Provide advice to campus partners regarding university policies and procedures
2. Contract Management System Support - 15%
- Perform responsibilities related to Contract Manager Role within Jaggaer Contract Lifecycle Management System
- Assist in monitoring contract request intake queue
- Determine appropriate routing and reviewing office
- Maintain working knowledge of university contract management system and training documentation
- Monitor shared Contracts email box to respond to or redirect inquiries
- Examine contract records in contract management system for accuracy and completeness
- Endorse advocate and educate users on DocuSign feature in BCM
Requirements:
- 3 5 years of contract experience
- Paralegal experience desired
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
