The Opportunity
The Psychiatric APC will provide oversight clinical consultation and direct care that includes crisis deescalation prescribing management. The role provides care to patients under the direct supervision of a board eligible or board-certified physician. The services provided falls within the scope of overall practice by the Nurse Practitioner including evaluation diagnosis and treatment of individuals with medical and psychiatric disorders.
Job Summary
Primary Responsibilities
-Provides clinical services including evaluation diagnosis and treatment to patients.
-Documents each clinical visit in the medical record on the day of service.
-Contributes to treatment plans and discharge summaries.
-Participates in team rounds and other clinical meetings and helps coordinate all treatment and discharge planning.
-Oversees appropriate medical care & prescribes medications.
-Meets with families for clinical discussions as needed.
-Communicates with referring sources primary care physicians and other community providers.
-Attends program and hospital administrative meetings as required.
-Complies with all hospital clinical and administrative policies.
-Participates in utilization management risk management and quality assurance activities.
-Provides supervision of medical trainees nursing trainees and others as appropriate.
-Facilitates integration of medical services with other clinical program services.
-Will attend supervision by supervising Psychiatrist MD.
What Youll Bring
Qualifications:
Masters Degree Nursing required
Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure required
3 years of Nurse Practitioner experience treating complex care adult psychiatric patients required
Experience working with patient populations with substance use disorders required

Schedule and Work Model
- Schedule: Full-time Monday through Friday standard business hours
- Hybrid Work Model:
See patients at Newton Wellesley Hospital and in the community joint visits telemed (virtual) visits home visits etc.
Remote / work from home and field/clinic/community schedule is based on patient and team needs.
