Job Summary:

Recreation & Wellbeing (Rec Well) at the University of WisconsinMadison is seeking a detailoriented innovative and energetic intern to support scheduling and event operations within one of the nations premier collegiate recreation position offers immersive real-world experience in event planning logistics and student-staff leadership within one of the most energetic and dynamic campus environments. Our state-of-the-art facilities are unlike traditional conference or hotel venues. As the Scheduling and Events Intern youll help bring events to lifefrom student-organization meetings to campus-wide programswhile serving as a vital support to the student event staff who make them happen.Youll gain handson experience coordinating event logistics supporting onsite operations solving problems in real time and contributing to process improvements that shape how Rec Well events run all year.

Youll also have the chance to step into a leadership role by supporting the hiring training and development of our student event staff team. This is a highimpact highinteraction internship perfect for anyone aspiring to build a career in event management recreation operations hospitality or student affairs. This internship is fundamentally about supporting event operations enhancing the student staff experience and contributing to a fastpaced peoplefocused environment. Each week will bring new events new challenges and new opportunities to learn and grow as an emerging event professional. It offers immersive fulllifecycle event experience from intake and planning to logistics coordination to onsite execution and evaluation.

This intern will gain experience in:

  • Supporting and coordinating student event staff including training development scheduling and communication.

  • Assisting with event planning and logistics for internal programs student organization events and campus partners.

  • Providing administrative support for event intake facility scheduling equipment tracking and office operations.

  • Participating in process improvement projects documentation updates and knowledgebase maintenance.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Engages in the Rec Well professional internship development curriculum all staff meetings divisional committees and other professional development responsibilities and opportunities.

  • Identifies proposes and implements new or revised operational policies and procedures
  • Assists in implementing the staffing resource allocation plan including hiring training and supervision
  • Coordinates logistics for events and programs
  • Prepares and monitors budgets and purchases expenditures as needed
  • Develops targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals

Compensation:

$22.50/Hour


Required Qualifications:

  • Strong communication leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook) or similar software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior event customer service or leadership experience strongly preferred.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. Times will vary by day and there is flexibility with an average of 30 hours per week.

Academic Professional Internship Information:

  • Internships are limited-time employments lasting 9 months or 1040 total hours
  • Internship dates are approximate and will run mid-August 2026 to May 2027

Education:

  • HS Diploma Required
  • Bachelors Degree - Achieve or advancing towards Bachelors degree or higher in a related field.
