Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Assist Contraband Sergeant in investigations-internal affairs SLED and Division of Security.
Assist Contraband Sergeant with offender drug testing.
Record all contraband and maintain all forms and drug testing supplies.
Test illegal drugs as to substance and identification -VALTOX test-NK test.
Maintains contraband drop box.
Drug test YOIP releases random drug screen pre-release offenders.
Destroy illegal drugs according to SCDC policy.
Prepares all monthly quarterly drug and contraband reports.
First responder Goodman inmate apprehension.
Serve illegal paperwork as it comes through the wardens Office.
Give all contraband money to the business office.

Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional security military or police work.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for 1/2 of required experience.
Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
