The Major Projects Planner is responsible for update & review of project plans within a portfolio for the 2.3bn Investment Plan of SP Transmission Major Projects targeted at supporting the UK to reach Net Zero and reporting on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio using specialist Planning Software and established IT Software tools.

What youll be doing

• Develop & evolve Transmission major project plans through the Delivery lifecycle by interfacing with relevant business experts obtaining the task detail required to provide adequate project scheduling information - allowing project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).

• Update project plans at a pre-determined frequency (usually monthly) obtaining the relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team Members.

• Produce portfolio level monthly reports based upon the most up-to-date Project Plan KPIs to inform & assist the portfolio level management decision making process - informing of project performance.

• Analyse internal departmental schedules & external contractor project plans as required; ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control & schedule targets.

• Attend internal and external meetings as required providing planning advice reports KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making.

• Comply with the relevant Quality Management System and support any process improvement initiatives.

• Deliver any development actions as defined in PDP.

What youll bring

• HNC in Engineering/Mathematical discipline or previous experience in scheduling/programming/ planning projects and a portfolio of works.

• Knowledge of scheduling using industry standard software such as Primavera and MS Project.

• Proven ability to work in a team environment.

• Good spoken & written communication skills.

• Experienced in report writing.

• Experienced in the use of MS Office tools: Excel Word Access etc.

• Appreciation of quality assurance processes.
