Full Charge Bookkeeper Construction / Steel Erection

We are seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage all accounting operations for a growing steel erection company based in New Jersey. This role supports both open shop and prevailing wage construction projects and requires hands-on ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping payroll job costing and compliance-related reporting.
This position works closely with ownership and project management and plays a key role in the financial health and operational success of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger and monthly closings
Payroll processing for open shop and prevailing wage projects including certified payroll reporting
Ensuring compliance with New Jersey and federal prevailing wage requirements
Construction job cost accounting including accurate allocation of labor materials and equipment
Preparation and maintenance of weekly/bi-weekly Work in Progress (WIP) reports
Financial reporting including P&L statements balance sheets and job cost reports
Coordination with CPA for quarterly reviews and year-end reporting
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper preferably in construction or steel erection
Strong knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements in New Jersey
Demonstrated experience with construction job costing and labor classifications
High proficiency in QuickBooks Online
Strong background in accounts receivable with a disciplined approach to accounts payable
Highly organized detail-oriented and able to work independently
