The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives creating safer communities and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role ofPsychology Associate Doctorate so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS! This position functions as an entrance level for psychology associate with a doctoral degree under the direct supervision and direction of a licensed psychologist.

This position provides psychological evaluations for youth pending disposition and placements and makes appropriate recommendations and referrals for suitable assignments. This includes administering psychological tests interpreting the results providing reports to the court and other agencies completing other behavioral health evaluations and attending/consulting with the treatment staffing team related to psychological and behavioral health issues. This position provides crisis and supportive behavioral health services to youth detained in DJS facilities.

Some key responsibilities of this position may include but not be limited to the following:

  • Complete psychological or other Behavior Health (BH) evaluations clinical services documentation per professional and agency standards under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist.
  • Provides consultation and serves as behavioral health member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled individual and peer supervision consultation and/or professional development activities and meet professional and ethical responsibilities.

This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:A Doctorate degree in Psychology as defined by the Health Occupations Article Title 18-101 (g) Annotated Code of Maryland.

Experience: One year of supervised experience rendering direct psychological services providing psychological assessments and evaluating the delivery of psychological services.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of a twelve month full-time or twenty-four month half-time internship in rendering psychological services for the required experience provided the internship is a requirement for the Doctorate degree in Psychology.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military serviceexperience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer inClinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Registration as a Psychology Associate with the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists at the time of hire.

Experience conducting psychological evaluations of examinees involved in the justice system.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

In accordance with the Health Occupations Article 18-301 (b4) Annotated Code of Maryland employees in this classification are required at the time of hire to apply jointly with the supervising Psychologist to the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for an exemption from licensure. The exemption must be received within six months of submitting the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
