DescriptionThe Planner II (Detailed Planning) is a mid-level professional responsible for independently managing planning activities that contribute to the successful execution of shipbuilding projects. With practical knowledge and experience in planning this role requires minimal supervision and provides support to colleagues while continuing to deepen understanding of the organization processes and customers.
Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site at 50 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.
What youll do
- Plan Management: Develop monitor and adjust detailed production schedules work packages and resource plans to align with project milestones and customer requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with engineering production procurement and quality teams to ensure alignment of schedules and resource allocation.
- Process Optimization: Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance planning accuracy efficiency and project performance.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:Analyze project data to monitor progress identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans; prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve complex planning issues independently using experience and organizational knowledge to minimize disruptions.
- Mentorship:Serve as a resource and provide guidance to junior planners offering support and sharing best practices.
- Customer Focus: Build relationships with internal and external customers ensuring planning deliverables meet expectations and align with project goals. Acts as the link between production function within their area of responsibility and support functions.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all planning activities adhere to organizational policies industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
What youll bring
- Bachelors Degree/Diploma or Technical certification in Trades (electrical) or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Meet requirements of Nato and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Security clearance.
- 2-4 years of experience in planning ship design shipbuilding or related trade experience
- Experience with planning tools such as MS Project and ERP systems (IFS); strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to various stakeholders.
- Ability to work on several issues simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to address complex challenges effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior team members fostering a collaborative work environment.
- In-depth understanding of shipbuilding processes organizational goals and customer requirements.
- Works independently with minimal supervision exercising judgment and initiative in planning activities.
- Provides advice and guidance to less experienced colleagues and contributes to team development.
- Combination of office and production floor environments with regular exposure to shipyard activities.
