Job Summary

The Manager Budgets & Resource Planning is responsible for the effective and efficient performance of UFVs financial planning and budgeting function by ensuring effective financial planning strategies and methodologies are in place that support service delivery within the University in accordance with UFV policies. This position provides guidance to all units on campus in the development of their budget and management of their financial resources.

The Manager Budgets & Resource Planning coordinates the organization of the financial planning budgeting and forecasting activities of the university utilizing advanced technology systems sound program and service costing techniques and financial modeling applications to ensure the most efficient use of the universitys fiscal resources in support of strategic goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • University degree from a recognized institution in Business or related field.
  • Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation. (CPA)
  • Minimum three (3) years management experience as well as a proven track record of effective team management and implementing change resulting in improvements to service quality staff productivity and systems efficiency; experience in a unionized environment is desirable.
  • Minimum six (6) years of demonstrated mid to senior level experience in financial budgeting program costing budget modeling reporting administration and working with integrated computerized systems; experience in the post-secondary education system desirable.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining business and business intelligence systems in an integrated computerized environment.
  • Advanced analytical and financial modelling skills; knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies.
  • Strong business acumen organization skills critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication interpersonal and presentation skills with ability to liaise with stakeholders across the Institute providing training for budget planning promoting understanding of budget planning processes and providing input and feedback on budget development.
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to manage complex analytical services to support the Institutes strategic financial planning processes and ability to manage business intelligence services including all financial modelling analysis and related report generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a management team; strong leadership skills and ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal supervisory and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to exercise tact and diplomacy confidentiality and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and recommend creative solutions.
  • Organizational skills and a high degree of self-motivation and business acumen. Demonstrated commitment to personal and organizational excellence.
