About the role: The Registrar Exhibitions and Loans will work with a team of Registrars on the organization and support of the Museums active programming and will manage complex exhibitions and loans. This position will be closely aligned with the work of Art Handling Curatorial Collections Information Collections Management Conservation and Exhibitions meeting the Brooklyn Museums high standards set for registration and collections care. Responsibilities: - All aspects of exhibition coordination including: budget preparation; correspondence with lenders venues and in-house staff; arranging shipping packing and insurance arrangements; reviewing and negotiating loan agreements; arrange courier travel
- All aspects of outward loan coordination including: correspondence with borrowers shippers customs agents; arranging packing courier travel and insurance.
- Traveling with exhibitions and loans as assigned.
- Receiving or releasing shipments after hours in order to meet shipping schedules
- Writing applications for U.S. Government Indemnities.
- Tracking and processing budgets for exhibition and loan expenses.
- Supervising and mentoring of departmental interns
- Following TSA protocols for air transportation and complete Security Threat Assessment
- Working with Collections Information on development and clean-up of exhibition and loan related TMS reporting.
- Assisting Chief Registrar on special projects and departmental strategic planning.
Qualifications: - Bachelors degree (Art History Arts Administration Museum Studies or related field)
- A minimum of 5 years Registrar experience
- Excellent research communication and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Meticulous attention to detail and thorough record keeping
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Previous experience with collections databases (TMS preferred)
