Job Summary

Responsible for directing the districts instructional programs at the elementary level and facilitates the ongoing development and alignment of the districts elementary programs; coordinates Title at elementary schools; guides the mentoring of new building principals at the elementary level; facilitates the content of PK-5 professional development for building leaders; provides supervision and support for elementary school principals.

Hiring Specifications

Education

  • Masters degree in educational administration from an accredited institution

Certification

  • Iowa administrator and evaluator license

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years teaching and 3 years administrative experience
  • Experience with developing and implementing budgets required

Job Duties

  1. Assumes responsibility in conjunction with the administrative staff for the quality of the educational program of the district.
  2. Oversees the PreK program in collaboration with the Special Education Department.
  3. Schedules and conducts meetings with principals and personnel in Teaching and Learning necessary for educational planning and operation.
  4. Lead Elementary administration in instructional leadership professional development.
  5. Provides leadership and coordination of the mentoring of elementary principals in accordance with state statutes.
  6. Communicates with parents and the community on matters relating to educational programs.
  7. Coordinates the evaluation of needs arrangements and provision of professional development in the area of student and support services for building administrators.
  8. Evaluates designated personnel.
  9. Assists with hiring and other personnel decisions as appropriate.
  10. Develops and monitors budgets for areas of responsibility.
  11. Serves on district incident command team.
  12. Recommends Board policies related to areas of responsibility and develops administrative guidelines as needed.
  13. Serves as a contributing member on the District Leadership Team.
  14. Attends Board meetings as needed serves as a resource person and assists with presentations of information and/or recommendations and prepares Board exhibits as appropriate.
  15. Adheres to high ethical standards and demonstrates professionalism when acting as an agent of the district.
  16. Keeps the Superintendent and Associate Superintendent advised on all relevant matters.
  17. District assessment coordinator.
  18. Oversees elementary summer school.
  19. Performs duties in accordance with Iowa Standards for School Leaders.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Associate Superintendent.
