Job Summary
A large acute care hospital in Bradenton FL is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist Lead to support laboratory operations. This role performs advanced clinical laboratory testing while serving as a lead resource on assigned shifts including acting as the primary laboratory point of contact for the trauma team during evening or night coverage.
The facility is a 380 bed acute care hospital recognized nationally for clinical excellence cardiovascular care and commitment to quality outcomes and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Perform stat and routine clinical laboratory testing within licensed technical disciplines
Apply independent judgment and laboratory medicine principles to ensure accurate and timely results
Perform testing in Blood Bank Chemistry and Hematology in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Maintain required licensure competency and regulatory scheduling compliance
Serve as the primary laboratory liaison for the trauma team during assigned shifts
Perform non-technical duties such as specimen collection processing and referral testing as needed
Follow written procedures organizational policies and regulatory requirements
Support departmental goals related to service excellence quality compliance financial performance and patient satisfaction
Promote a positive collaborative and professional work environment
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Science Required
Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology Preferred
Active Florida Medical Technologist License Required
Demonstrated technical expertise in:
35 years of medical laboratory experience Required
3 years of experience with regular scheduling in at least five laboratory areas
