ISP School Nurse Role Profile
Purpose of Role
The School Nurse plays a critical role in promoting the health and well-being of students and staff within the school community. The nurse provides direct medical care health education and guidance ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment. The role involves collaboration with staff families and external healthcare providers to support student health and academic success.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
- Assess and manage students acute and chronic health conditions during school hours.
- Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with confidentiality policies.
- Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with local health regulations.
- Identify contagious diseases and follow appropriate reporting and isolation protocols.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specific medical needs.
- Promote health education and preventive care programs within the school community.
- Serve as a liaison between school personnel families and healthcare providers.
- Maintain an organized and well-equipped school clinic.
- Participate in school safety planning and emergency response procedures.
- Support mental health awareness and refer students to appropriate resources when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- CPR and First Aid Certification required
- Certification in School Nursing desirable
- Knowledge of child and adolescent health
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferably in pediatrics public health or school settings
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents highly valued
- Familiarity with educational environments and multidisciplinary teamwork
