HEALTH PROGRAMS:

A leader in the eradication and elimination of diseases the Centers Health Programs works to fight six preventable diseases - Guinea worm river blindness trachoma schistosomiasis lymphatic filariasis and malaria in Hispaniola - by using health education and simple low-cost methods. The Center also strives to improve maternal and child health in Sudan and Nigeria and improve access to mental health care efforts have brought better disease surveillance and health care delivery systems to resource-limited countries.

JOB SUMMARY:

The full-time temporary Program Assistant is needed for approximately three months (8 hours/day Monday - Friday) to provide support to Special Health Programs and the Health Data Support Unit as well as the Office of the Vice President for Health Programs (OVPH). Depending on business needs the length of the temporary position could be shortened or extended with notice to the temporary Program Assistant. The selected temporary hire may have the opportunity to be considered for the same regular staff position; however there is not a guarantee that a regular staff offer will be extended.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff for Health Programs the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously have exceptional organizational skills and possess good judgment and discretion with sensitive information and documentation. The temporary Program Assistant liaises between the OVPH including Special Health Programs and Health Data Support Unit and various Carter Center departments including but not limited to Development Finance Overseas Operations Events Volunteers the CEO Office and external partners on a full range of Center activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides administrative and logistical support for projects initiatives and programs.
  • Works with and maintains data management and filing for projects/program.
  • Assists assigned managers and team members by maintaining calendars receiving and assisting with drafting correspondence replying to general inquiries and support other administrative functions as needed.
  • Handles planning and preparations of travel arrangements including scheduling logistics planning and other requirements for meetings and events special projects and domestic and international travel.
  • May liaise with project consultants and field office staff providing logistical and administrative support as directed.
  • Prepares and processes financial documents including contracts expense reports invoices etc.
  • Drafts and manages contracts for consultants and subcontractors.
  • Maintains general office functionality and handles department procurement.
  • May conduct research for reports and presentations in support of one or more staff members in regard to project and programmatic efforts.
  • May serve as an administrator of work product with other programs/departments i.e. finance program development public information etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelors degree or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of administrative experience.
  • Proficiency with various personal computer software applications.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines. All non-exempt employees must reside within the state of Georgia.
