Internship Mission Description
Internship Mobility Governance Unit UITP
Duration: 3-6 months ideally between February and August 2026
Time commitment: At least 2 days per week agreement made between UITP the University and the intern
Location: Remote
Remuneration: unpaid UITP will provide reimbursement of some expenses
Reporting to: Two managers UITP Mobility Governance Unit
The internship should be part of the university program and a specific agreement should be signed by all parts: student university and UITP.
Key responsibilities
As part of the Mobility Governance Unit within the Knowledge & Innovation Department the intern have the opportunity to:
Support the creation of a tool to map UITPs knowledge outputs against sustainability objectives.
In the framework of the UITP Sustainable Development Committee (SDC) the intern will support the creation of a tool to better map knowledge outputs and working bodies of UITP against sustainability objectives. Based on the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a previous work done by the Committee the tool will be developed to better understand how the SDC can work with other Committees. The intern would be asked to conceive the tool with the Committee manager and to contribute to the first analysis. It will allow her/him to gain an understanding of the global sustainability agenda and how the public transport sector contributes to these objectives.
List of tasks
Participate in meetings
Support the preparatory work of the tool by analysing existing materials
Research on existing methodologies and similar projects to inspire the tool
Set-up a structure for the Excel tool
Set-up an analysis methodology for the mapping
Perform the analysis with Manager of the SDC
Draft a presentation to communicate the results of the analysis in a comprehensive way

Structure Excel tool
Methodology for the mapping
Testing the tool with a selected topic
Presentation to communicate results
2. Draft a UITP Report and launch a webinar on the roadmap for how the sustainable mobility sector can reach Net-Zero.
The intern supported by UITP team will conduct desk research interview UITP members and partners and consolidate insights from the NetZeroCities project to develop and draft a UITP Report on how the sustainable mobility sector can reach net-zero. The results and findings will then be presented as part of a UITP webinar of which the intern will organise.

Consolidate key research and project outcomes already from past UITP work and project deliverable
Contact and liaise with external UITP members and partners to gather further information and insights in the form of interviews and online discussions.
Draft the UITP Report
Liaise with UITPs Communications team for dissemination activities
Develop the outline for a UITP webinar schedule with speakers and launch it on UITP channels. Present research findings and consolidated tools and approaches.
Regular calls with UITP Manager and Unit colleagues to share progress.
Profile & requirements
Ideal candidate would have background in urban transport public policy political science governance or innovation.
Knowledge on environmental policies and sustainable development is an asset
Understanding of European transport policy frameworks.
Organisational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Other languages are a plus.
Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with the team.
Interest in sustainable mobility innovation and sustainability.
Familiar with MS Teams MS Excel (Pivot tables) and AI tools.
