Job Summary
The job of Substitute Van Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport loading and unloading from vans.
Essential Functions:
- Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
- Assesses incidents complaints accidents and/or potential emergency situations
- Assists students and other passengers; attends meetings trainings etc.
- Cleans assigned vehicles both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drills
- Drives school van/s
- Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil water fuel etc.)
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels tire pressure exterior condition etc.)
- Prepares documents and reports (e.g. field trip reports incident reports inspections records passenger misconduct mileage logs student counts etc.)
- Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline accidents inappropriate social behavior etc.)
- Responds to inquires (e.g. students parents other school personnel etc.)
- Supervises students and other passengers during transit
- Assists other personnel as may be required
Qualifications:
- Experience desired
- Alcohol and Drug Test
- Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
- Random Drug Testing
- Ability to read write and communicate clearly in English
This is a substitute non-benefited position and hours are subject to availability.
